Brazil

The Federative Republic of Brazil stretches across half of South America, being the largest country in the South American continent and fifth largest in the world.

Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in the south-central regions are the most densely populated areas of Brazil –is the only Portuguese-speaking country in South America. It has a rich and complex history, dating back to the 1700s when slavery was a major part of the Brazilian culture. Slaves were brought into the country from Africa, so large numbers of Brazilians today have African heritage, along with others of European and Asian descent. Brazil is famous for its annual Mardi Gras carnivals in Rio de Janiero, Salvador, Recife, and Olinda, as well as lovely towns from northern Fortaleza to southern Curitiba. Here, millions of people every year dance and party throughout the night and day. This country is also well known for its great love of soccer.

Brazil possesses an extensive coastline measuring almost 7,500 kilometres long. There are over 2,000 beaches along Brazil's shoreline and more than 1,000 islands dotting this coast. The Amazon River and Rainforest, as well as Iguazu Falls, are Brazil's most famous natural attractions. The country boasts over 62 National Parks and hundreds of conservation units. While Brazil is geographically large, it is also very naturally diverse - its geography ranges from dense rain forests and jungles to towering mountains, island archipelagos to scrublands and rolling plains. Brazil dazzles your senses and is a sight to behold.
